The Heurio team had an ambitious idea: a Chrome extension designed to simplify website bug reporting and collaboration, offering a seamless, real-time commenting experience directly on live websites, much like the intuitive commenting experience of Figma. Their vision was a user-friendly extension that wouldn't overshadow the actual website content, yet powerful enough to conduct comprehensive heuristic evaluations based on established methodologies, including Nielsen’s 10 usability heuristics. Additionally, they required a robust web app serving as a centralized project management platform for tracking feedback, tagging collaborators, setting deadlines, exporting data, and generating reports.

Our team took a strategic, user-centric approach, beginning with extensive UX research to identify the pain points experienced by users when performing heuristic analyses and collaborating on web feedback. After defining clear user personas and mapping user journeys, we crafted streamlined, unobtrusive UI designs ensuring the extension operated as a subtle yet effective overlay, enabling easy comment management without distracting from the underlying website. We then meticulously developed the Chrome extension, prioritizing intuitive interactions and integrating seamlessly with the supporting web application.

The resulting solution, Heurio, successfully balances simplicity and functionality. Users now easily annotate live websites, conduct detailed heuristic evaluations, and collaborate efficiently through the platform’s comprehensive project management features. With the advanced Organization plan, larger teams benefit from enhanced project tracking, detailed reporting, and streamlined team coordination, significantly improving overall productivity and UX quality assurance processes.
